PennDOT Completes Valley Park Road Bridge Replacement Project, Reopens Highway in Schuylkill Township

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction has been completed on a $1.4 million project to replace the bridge that carries Valley Park Road over Anderson Brook in Schuylkill Township, Chester County. The bridge and roadway had been closed since June 23 for bridge construction.

Under this project, PennDOT’s contractor replaced the existing bridge with a precast reinforced concrete box culvert. The span length is similar to the existing span length. The existing horizontal alignment of Valley Park Road was maintained, while the vertical profile was lowered to remove the hump on the road at the structure. The approach guiderail along Valley Park Road was also placed and painted brown.

Lobar Site Development Corporation of Dillsburg, Pa., was the general contractor on this project, which was financed with 100 percent federal funds.
