A project to give drivers a smoother ride on more than 4.5 miles of Route 285 in North Shenango Township in Crawford County is underway.
Milling work is scheduled to begin August 25, 2025, on the roadway from the Ohio state line to the intersection of Route 285 and Hartstown Road (Route 3011) in North Shenango Township.
Work began on with some tree trimming starting August 18, 2025. The project is expected to be completed in October 2025.
The project also includes base repairs to the roadway and paving.
As part of the project, improvements to the bridge over the Pymatuning Causeway. At least one lane of the bridge will remain open during the work and nighttime work will be conducted. Drivers should be alert for lane restrictions and traffic controlled by flaggers near the bridge outside of normal work hours.
Drivers may encounter daytime lane restrictions and flaggers throughout the project area. There will be no lane restrictions in place during the Labor Day weekend, 6:00 AM on August 29, 2025, to 6:00 AM on September 2, 2025.
The contractor is Shields Asphalt Paving, Inc of Valencia, PA. The contract cost is $1,847,297.02, which will be paid entirely with state funds.
