A project to give drivers a smoother ride on more than 6 miles of Route 6 in Vernon and Sadsbury townships and Conneaut Lake Borough in Crawford County is expected to be completed this summer.
Milling work has been completed on 6.4 miles of roadway from near the roundabout of routes 6, 19, 98 and 322 in Vernon Township to the intersection with Route 618 in Conneaut Lake.
The next phase of the project will to be make repairs to the exposed layer of roadway as needed and update drainage inlets and pipes. The project also includes paving the four-lane roadway, upgrading curb ramps as needed, and replacing guiderail. Roadway painting will also be done throughout the project area, including updated lines that will change the traffic pattern near the border or Conneaut Lake and Sadsbury Township.
Repairs will also be made to the bridge that carries Route 6 over Mud Run near Pine Road in Sadsbury Township. While this work is complete, at least one lane of the bridge will remain open.
Drivers may encounter lane restrictions throughout the project area as well as traffic pattern shifts with traffic controlled by flaggers. Travel delays are anticipated during active work hours.
Construction began on March 31, 2025. It is expected to be completed in August 2025, weather permitting.
The contractor is Lindy Paving, Inc of PA, of New Galilee. The contract cost is $5,184,024.53, which will be paid entirely with state funds.
