The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to view the plans for a proposed project to repair the bridge that carries River Road (Route 2002) over Coleman Run in Barnett Township, Forest County.
The bridge is located on River Road between the intersection with the Coleman Road and the intersection with Greenwood Road.
The project will include replacing the existing steel bridge beams, concrete deck and barriers, and guiderail. Work will also include minimal paving on each side of the bridge.
Work is expected to occur during the 2026 construction season.
One side of the bridge will remain open at all times with traffic will be controlled through the use of temporary signals.
The existing bridge was built in 1962. It is classified as being in poor condition and is posted with a 19-ton weight limit. Approximately 100 vehicles a day use the bridge, on average.
The information on the River Road Bridge Project, including a handout, digital plans, and a comment form, is available online only. It can be accessed by visiting www.penndot.pa.gov/District clicking the Projects Near You and the District 1 link.
