District 6 Projects - Chester County

Bondsville Road Retaining Wall Project

Project Overview

County: Chester
Municipality: East Brandywine Township
State Route: Route 4015
Local Name: Bondsville Road
Project Type: Slope Failure Stabilization
MPMS Number: 120062
Last Updated: June 2025

A retaining wall installation project is planned along Bondsville Road in East Brandywine Township, Chester County. Erosion of the steep slope between Bondsville Road and Beaver Creek has created unstable conditions along the roadway embankment. A guiderail has been installed by the PennDOT Maintenance Unit to protect motorists. Project design is currently in progress, with an anticipated construction start date of Spring 2026.

Traffic Impacts

Geotechnical borings will be conducted in the Summer of 2025 to assess subsurface conditions as part of the retaining wall design. A short-term detour using Route 340 (Kings Highway) and Bailey Road will be implemented during the boring work. An additional detour will be established for the construction of the retaining wall in 2026.
