Lane restrictions also planned for next week on Route 15
Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that work will begin next week on the Route 30 bridge spanning Route 15 near Gettysburg in Adams County. This work is expected to take about two weeks to complete and will require long-term lane restrictions in both directions of Route 30.
Additionally, there will be lane restrictions next week on Route 15 in the Gettysburg area.
Weather permitting, on Monday May 12, the contractor will begin work on the Route 30 bridge spanning Route 15 in both eastbound and westbound directions. The schedule calls for milling on Monday, followed by deck repairs Tuesday, May 13, through Thursday, May 15, and paving on Friday, May 16.
The left (inside) lanes of Route 30 will be closed in both directions from the Royal Farms/Gateway Gettysburg area to Shealer Road near Sheetz for the duration of this work.
The following week beginning Monday, May 19, the contractor will shift traffic to the left (inside) lanes and perform milling, deck repairs, waterproofing and paving within the same limits in the right (outside) lanes. A right lane restriction will be in place for the duration of this work. There will be a 10-foot lane restriction in place while work in the right lanes is being performed due to no shoulder along the left (inside) lanes.
In addition to the work on the Route 30 bridge, alternating right and left lane restrictions will be in place from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM Tuesday, May 13, on northbound and southbound Route 15 from the Maryland state line to Steinwehr Avenue so new traffic counter loop sensors can be installed at Boyle Road just north of the Maryland line.
On Wednesday, May 14, alternating right and left lane restrictions will be in place from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM along a one-mile section of northbound Route 15 from MM 12.5 to 13.5 (approximately from the Huntertown Road overpass to about one mile north of the overpass) so traffic counter loop sensors can be installed. Restrictions will be lifted during non-work hours.
All work is weather dependent.
This work is part of a 14.8-mile pavement preservation project that includes diamond grinding, milling and overlaying ramps and shoulders, guide rail replacement, pipe replacement, and other miscellaneous activities on Route 15 in Freedom, Cumberland, Mounty Joy and Straban townships, Adams County.
Travelers are reminded to be alert for these operations, to obey work zone signs, and to use caution when driving through work zones for their safety, as well as for the safety of the road crews.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $ 8,318,599 project.
