Work Planned on Route 283 in Lancaster County

Contractor to mark locations for pavement patching

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that daylight lane restrictions are planned on Route 283 in Lancaster County, so a contractor can mark pavement to prepare for patching operations.

The work is expected to be performed from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Tuesday, June 24, through Thursday, June 26, in both directions of Route 283 from the Mount Joy (Route 230) Exit to the Mount Joy/Manheim (Route 772) Exit.

There will be lane restrictions on Route 283 during work hours. Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

This work is part of a districtwide pavement preservation project consisting of asphalt patching, crack sealing and other on call services for sinkhole repair and roadway repairs, along with other miscellaneous construction on various routes in the PennDOT District 8 region consisting of Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, and York counties.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $1,510,000 project. All work on this contract is expected to be completed by July 1, 2026.
