Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the implementation of a one-way traffic pattern on a section of Route 646 at the intersection of Route 770, located in the village of Aiken in McKean County. Installation of signage indicating the new traffic pattern is planned for the week of July 14, at which time the new pattern will take effect. This is intended to improve safety for motorists traveling through the intersection on either route, and was recommended after the completion of a traffic safety study of the intersection.
Beginning the week of July 14, southbound traffic will be prohibited on a section of Route 646 for several hundred feet from the intersection with Route 770. Southbound traffic will instead be directed to use a short crossover located immediately before the one-way restriction, which also connects directly to Route 770. Motorists are reminded to obey the posted stop sign at this intersection. Access will remain unchanged for motorists traveling North on Route 646.
