Route 356/4048 Intersection Traffic Signal Replacement Thursday in Westmoreland County

Uniontown, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that the Route 356 and 4048 (Melwood/Hyde Park Road) intersection will be controlled by flagging in all directions on Thursday, February 6, in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, weather and operationally dependent.

Crews from Ligonier Construction Company will be replacing the intersection’s traffic signal controller assembly and its components.

Use caution while driving through the work zone and allow extra travel time. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

This work is part of a $7.8 million safety improvement investment which includes a new roundabout constructed at the intersection of Route 356 and Route 4054 (La Belle Vue Road), the realignment of Route 356 and Route 4054 (La Belle Vue Road), milling and pavement overlays, stormwater maintenance, and signal upgrades to the existing signal located at the intersection Route 356 and Route 4048 (Melwood/Hyde Park Road). The project is anticipated to be completed in May 2025.
