    PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

    Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of July 28. All maintenance activities are dependent on weather and operations.

    Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

    Cleaning swale:

    • Route 1011 (Lockport Road) in Fairfield Township

    Edge paving:

    • Route 3037 (Waltz Mill Road) in South Huntingdon and Sewickley townships

    Mechanized patching:

    • Route 130 in Cook Township

    Parallel ditching:

    • Route 201 (Rostraver Road) in Rostraver Township
    • Route 3081 (Catalina Farm Road) in East Huntingdon Township

    Pipe installation:

    • Route 1067 (Laughner Road) in Fairfield Township
    • Route 1017 (Wilpen Road) in Ligonier Township

    Pipe replacement:

    • Route 1043 (Pandora Road) in Derry Township
    • Route 982 in Unity Township

    Shoulder cutting:

    • Various routes in Penn, Hempfield, and North Huntingdon townships

    Slide repair:

    • Route 1026 (Donohoe Road) in Hempfield Township

    Surface treatment:

    • Route 819 in Mount Pleasant and Hempfield townships
    • Route 2014 (Skidmore Road) in Hempfield Township
    • Route 2010 (Armbrust Hecla Road) in Mount Pleasant Township
    • Route 2009 (Brinkerton Road) in Hempfield Township

    Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, update existing signs, and address work orders on various state routes throughout the county.

    PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, available free of charge 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
