    PennDOT’s Fayette County Maintenance Update

    Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Fayette County Maintenance Manager Jason L. Spangler has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of May 19. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations.

    Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

    Bridge replacement:

    • Route 1002 (Banning Road) over a branch of Laurel Run in Lower Tyrone Township
      • Road closed between Keffer Road and Route 1041 (Chaintown Road/School Road)
        • Detour:
          • Route 1002 (Banning Road)
          • Route 1004 (Cottom Road)
          • Route 1041 (Chaintown Road)

    Brushing/sloping:

    • Route 166 (New Geneva Road) in Nicholson Township
    • Route 166 (Republic Road) in German Township

    Grass cutting:

    • Route 119 (Gallatin Avenue bypass) in North Union Township
    • Route 2027 (Connellsville Street) in North Union Township

    Litter removal:

    • Various routes countywide

    Seal coat:

    • Route 281 (Mae West Road) in Henry Clay Township
    • Route 381 (Farmington Ohiopyle Road) in Wharton Township
    • Route 2012 (Sugar Loaf Road) in Stewart Township

    Shoulder cutting:

    • Route 4006 (New Salem Road) in Menallen Township
    • Route 4008 (Filbert Orient Road) in Menallen Township

    Sign upgrading:

    • Various routes countywide

    Crews will pick litter, replace downed and update signs, and address work orders on various state routes countywide. 

    PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, available free of charge 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
