Secondary Road Projects to Continue in Armstrong County

Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 10 is alerting motorists to upcoming secondary road maintenance in Kiskiminetas, Parks, and Gilpin townships and Apollo Borough in Armstrong County.

The following are upcoming projects with a Red Arrow Detour in place. A Red Arrow Detour is a temporary detour marked with red arrow signs that lead traffic along an alternate route while the road being worked on is temporarily closed.  Only residents and local traffic will be permitted to travel through the work zone.  Motorists should use caution and expect delays.

  • May 19 through 22, on Route 56 between the intersections of Garvers Ferry and Sugar Hollow/11th Street in Apollo
  • May 27 through 29 on Route 56 between the intersections of Garvers Ferry at Sugar Hollow and Garvers Ferry at Gravel Bar
  • June 2 through 5 on Airport Road between the intersections of Route 66 and Hungary Hollow Road.

Derry Construction Co., Inc., of Latrobe is completing this $8.1 million project anticipated to be complete in early November.

Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a free smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following local alerts on X.
