The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to a plans display regarding the Route 267, Section 770, Bridge Project over Meshoppen Creek. This plans display will be held online, and plans will be displayed for public viewing at the Meshoppen Borough building.

The purpose of this project is to provide safe, efficient, and unrestricted vehicular and pedestrian transportation on Route 267 (Bridge Street) across Meshoppen Creek.

The existing bridge, located on Route 267 (Bridge St), crosses the Meshoppen Creek and is currently deficient with an overall bridge rating of 4. The structure shows signs of severely deteriorated T-beams, isolated areas of active corrosion, worsening sway bracing collision damage, and many bridge components have section loss arrested by paint.

The existing structure is a three-span structure comprised of two concrete T-Beam approach spans and a main riveted steel through truss span. The two-lane bridge was built in 1934 and last received a major rehabilitation in 1986. The bridge has a structure length of 214'. The out-to-out width is 39'-6”, and the curb-to-curb width is 23' with two 7’-3” sidewalks. The bridge is currently posted for one truck at a time.

This bridge replacement will alleviate any current weight restrictions and provide a structure that meets current design standards. The proposed bridge is a two-lane bridge with 2-11’ lanes, 2-4’ shoulders, and 2-6’ sidewalks. This project will also include approximately 150’ of full depth paving on the roadway approaches.

The bridge is anticipated to be closed during the 2027 and 2028 construction season for approximately 12-18 months. During construction, traffic will be detoured using state and local roads. The 0.5-mile detour will include Route 267 (Oak Street), US 6, and Canal Street. Access to driveways and businesses within and near the work area will remain open during construction.

The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project, describe the maintenance of traffic during construction, and receive public input regarding any questions or concerns with the project.

The plans display will be held online and will be available from October 13, 2025 to October 27, 2025.

The plans will be on display at the Meshoppen Borough building, located at 146 Oak Street, Meshoppen, PA 18630 from October 13, 2025 to November 13, 2025, during Borough posted operating hours. For available viewing times, please contact Meshoppen Borough at 570-833-5556.

The purpose of the plans display is to introduce the project and receive public input regarding questions or concerns with the project.
