Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plan display regarding the Route 3014 (Hykes Road) bridge replacement project over Interstate 81 in Antrim Township, Franklin County. The bridge is located 1.9 miles east of the intersection with Route 3001 (Williamsport Pike) and 500 feet west of Route 11 (Molly Pitcher Highway).
The purpose of this project is to address the deteriorating condition of the bridge and to provide continued safe and efficient access on Route 3014 over I-81.
The project includes replacing the bridge on the existing alignment. The existing structure is a four span prestressed concrete I-beam bridge built in 1960. The structure has a span length of 217 feet and carries a roadway with two 12-foot lanes and 2-foot shoulders. The replacement bridge will be evaluated for a two span, prestressed concrete bulb-tee or spread box beam carrying 12-foot lanes and 5-foot shoulders.
Additionally, the roadway will be reconstructed for approximately 250 feet along the western approach to the bridge and 300 feet along the eastern approach. Guide rail will be updated in all quadrants.
Traffic is anticipated to be detoured during construction. The proposed detour route is approximately 8.6-miles long and will use Williamsport Pike, Route 163 and Route 11. The duration of the detour is expected to be approximately 3-to-4 months.
The project is currently in design and construction is expected to take place in 2027 and 2028 construction seasons. The duration of construction is anticipated to last 12 months.
The public comment period for this project is July 2 to August 2, 2025. Hard copy plans will also be available for review at the Antrim Township Municipal Building during the dates listed above.
