    New West Center Road Bridge Opened in Conneaut Township, Crawford County

    Overall Project Expected to Wrap up in October.

    The new bridge that carries West Center Road over Paden Run in Conneaut Township, Crawford County opened, and the detour was lifted late last week.

    The bridge is located on West Center Road (Route 4004) just west of the intersection with Beaver Center Road (Route 4001).

    The former steel bridge, which had an 18-ton weight restriction, was removed. A new concrete structure, which has no weight restriction, was constructed in its place. Work also included updates to drainage and guide rail. Additional work on the project will be completed in the coming weeks, including minor asphalt paving near the bridge and landscaping.

    Work began in April 2025 and is expected be complete in October 2025

    The contractor is Thomas Construction, Inc. of Grove City, PA. The contract cost is $1,118,080.72, which is to be paid entirely with federal funds.

    PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.

    511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional Twitter alerts accessible on the 511PA website.
