Project Overview

County: Bucks

The existing bridge is a 22-foot-long single-span rolled steel I-beam bridge built in 1951. It carries Allentown Road over a branch of Unami Creek in Milford Township, Bucks County. The structure is in poor condition and is posted with a 15-ton weight limit. The project involves replacing the existing structure with a single-span concrete box culvert. It also includes replacing the guide rail, signage, and pavement markings. All traffic will be detoured during construction.

Construction Update

On July 3, 2025, PennDOT completed construction on this project to replace the bridge carrying Allentown Road over a branch of Unami Creek. The new culvert and roadway have reopened to traffic.

Construction on the project began in late January 2025 to replace the existing poor condition structure with a single-span, concrete box culvert. PennDOT’s contractor also replaced the guiderail, signage, and pavement markings.

This bridge is the fifth of seven structures that have been replaced or rehabilitated under a $9.5 million bridge improvement project in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of King of Prussia, Pa. is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
