Weekend Bridge Repairs Planned on Route 222 Bridge over Church Street in Lancaster County

Lane restrictions between Mohler Church Road and Col. Howard Boulevard

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge slab repairs are scheduled for next weekend (August 22-25) on the Route 222 bridge spanning Church Street (Route 1051) in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County.

Weather permitting, work will be from 8:00 PM Friday, August 22, to 6:00 AM Monday, August 25. There will be lane restrictions in both directions of Route 222 from the Mohler Church Road overpass in Ephrata Township to Col. Howard Boulevard in East Cocalico Township. An 11-foot width restriction will be in place.

Motorists should be alert and drive with caution through the work zone.

This work is part of a pavement preservation project on Route 222 from Mohler Church Road to Col. Howard Boulevard.

Work includes bituminous resurfacing, full width milling, base repair, concrete patching, guide rail updates, line painting, and sign updates on Route 222 and constructing a new entrance to the northbound Route 222 weigh station between the Lancaster County line and the Adamstown/Knauers Exit in Brecknock Township, Berks County.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the contractor on this $7,662,625 project. All work is expected to be completed by February 2, 2026.
