    PennDOT to Begin Dowlin Forge Road Bridge Rehabilitation Project in Uwchlan, East Brandywine Townships

    King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin on Monday, July 21, to repair the bridge that carries Dowlin Forge Road over East Branch of Brandywine Creek in Uwchlan and East Brandywine townships, Chester County.

    Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

    Local access will be maintained at all times. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur.

    Under this project, PennDOT’s contractor will perform steel, deck, and superstructure repairs on the 84-year-old Dowlin Forge Road bridge. The current structure is 103 feet long, 28 feet wide, and carries approximately 3,819 vehicles per day.

    Loftus Construction, Inc. of King of Prussia, Pa., is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
