Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised that work continues on Route 42 and School House Road (Route 2006) next week in Hemlock Township. This work is part of the multi-year reconstruction and resurfacing project on Interstate 80 in Columbia County.
On Thursday, May 15, 2025, the contractor will continue work on the bridges carrying Route 42 (Mall Boulevard) over Interstate 80. Work includes placing a waterproofing membrane on the bridge deck, paving and line painting. Motorists can expect lane closures, but all nearby entrance ramps to Interstate 80 will remain open.
Route 42 (Mall Boulevard) Traffic Impacts
- The southbound left lane and shoulder will be closed between Mitchell Drive and Red Mill Road. This restriction is scheduled to remain in effect until the evening of Friday, May 16, weather permitting.
- The northbound right lane and shoulder will be closed between Lunger Drive and Route 44 (Buckhorn Road). This restriction is scheduled to remain in effect until the evening of Friday, May 16, weather permitting.
School House Road (Route 4006)
Starting on Friday, May 16, 2025, School House Road will be closed between Buckhorn Road and Frosty Valley Road (Route 4003), while the contractor continues preservation work on the bridge over Interstate 80. Work includes applying a waterproofing membrane, paving, and line painting.
A detour using Frosty Valley Road, Mall Boulevard, and Buckhorn Road will be in place while work is being performed. Work is anticipated to be completed on Monday, May 26, weather permitting. Local traffic will have access to local roads from Buckhorn Road, but access across the bridge will be restricted.
Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, watch for stopped or slow-moving vehicle, and drive with caution.
New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co., Inc. is the prime contractor for this $11.1 million reconstruction and resurfacing project. Work includes shoulder reconstruction, roadway resurfacing, structure preservation, signing, and other miscellaneous work. Work on this project is anticipated to be completed in June of 2025.
