UPDATE: (WORK CONTINUES JUNE 18) Bridge Flushing Today in Northumberland County

UPDATE: PennDOT maintenance crews will continue bridge flushing tomorrow, Wednesday, June 18, 2025 on the following routes in Northumberland County.

  • Route 45 over the West Branch Susquehanna River between Lewisburg Borough in Union County and West Chillisquaque Township.
  • Route 61 over the Shamokin Creek between Paxinos in Shamokin Township and Shamokin Borough in Coal Township.

Work will take place between the hours of 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting. Motorists can expect lane restrictions with flagging. 

Montoursville, PA – Motorists are advised of lane shifts and lane restrictions today in the City of Sunbury, Northumberland Borough, West Chillisquaque Township, Shamokin Township, Coal Township, and Shamokin Borough, in Northumberland County, for bridge flushing.

On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) maintenance crew will be performing bridge flushing along the following bridges in Northumberland County.

  • Route 405 (Edison Bridge) in the City of Sunbury and (Priestley Bridge) over the North Branch Susquehanna River in Northumberland Borough.
  • Route 11 (Barry King Bridge) over the West Branch Susquehanna River in Northumberland Borough.
  • Route 45 over the West Branch Susquehanna River between Lewisburg Borough in Union County and West Chillisquaque Township.
  • Route 61 over the Shamokin Creek between Paxinos in Shamokin Township and Shamokin Borough in Coal Township.

Motorists can expect lane shifts or lane restrictions where work is being performed. Work will be performed between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, weather permitting.

Motorists should be alert, slow down, expect delays in travel, and drive with caution through the work zone.
