PennDOT Offers Update on Route 45 Paving in Centre County

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) updated drivers on the progress of a resurfacing project along Route 45 in Potter and Gregg townships. This work is part of a larger contract to improve the ride quality and extend the service life of approximately 20 miles across five routes in Centre and Clinton counties.

Crews will resume paving along Route 45 near Spring Mills on Wednesday, September 10, during daylight hours.

Starting at 6:00 PM Sunday, September 14, crews will begin paving near the Centre County Grange Fairground Gate 4 in Potter Township and work their way westbound toward the intersection of Route 144 until 6:00 AM on Monday, September 15.

Crews will resume overnight paving at 6:00 PM Monday evening and continue until 6:00 AM Tuesday, September 16. PennDOT expects daylight paving operations between Spring Mills and the intersection of Route 144 to resume on Wednesday, September 17.

Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during all paving operations. PennDOT urges drivers to obey flaggers and work zone signage, exercise caution while traveling through the work zone, and always buckle up. Drivers who fail to obey flaggers or other work zone signage risk being reported to law enforcement and may be cited.

Other roads to see improvements as part of this contract include:

  • Interstate 99 in Centre County.
  • Route 144 in Centre County.
  • Route 477 in Clinton County.
  • Route 2012 (Youngdale Road/ East Keller Street) in Clinton County.

Overall work on this project includes milling and paving operations, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., of State College, PA, is the contractor on this $5.7 million project. PennDOT anticipates project completion in mid-November, but all work is weather-dependent.
