PennDOT Closing Groninger Valley Road Bridge on Tuesday, June 24

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced it will close a Route 3008 (Groninger Valley Road) bridge spanning a tributary of Tuscarora Creek four miles southwest of Port Royal in Beale Township on Tuesday, June 24. Closing the bridge will enable the contractor for this project to replace the existing structure, thereby improving ride quality, extending service life, and enhancing the overall condition rating.

While the bridge is closed, traffic will follow a detour using Route 75 and Route 3030 (Spruce Hill Road) back to Groninger Valley Road. PennDOT anticipates project completion in early September, but all work is weather-dependent.

The scope of work for this project includes removing the existing structure, building its replacement, approach paving, rock benching, guide rail installation, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. Wen-Brooke Contracting, Inc. of Mount Union, PA, is the contractor on this $684,000 job.
