    PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

    Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager Dave Forkey has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of June 9. All maintenance activities are dependent on weather and operational conditions.

    Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

    Cross pipe installation:

    • Route 3077 (Penn Adamsburg Road) in Hempfield Township
      • Road closed between Gratz Street and Julie Dean Lane
        • Detour:
          • Route 4008 (Penn High Park Road/Baughman Avenue/Pennsylvania Boulevard)
          • Route 30 (Lincoln Highway)
          • Route 3077 (Edna Road/Penn Adamsburg Road)

    Drainage repair:

    • Route 2023 (Charles Houck Road) in Unity Township

    Edge paving:

    • Route 3004 (Hawkeye Road) in East Huntingdon Township
    • Route 3089 (Water Street) in East Huntingdon Township

    Paving:

    • Route 981 in Derry Township.

    Pipe flushing:

    • Route 1010 (Farm Road) in Ligonier

    Pipe installation:

    • Route 982 (Kecksburg Road) in Fairfield Township
    • Route 1067 (Laughner Road) in Fairfield Township

    Pipe maintenance:

    • Route 1010 (Farm Road) in Ligonier Township

    Pipe replacement:

    • Route 2016 (Youngstown Ridge Road) in Unity Township
    • Route 3071 (Arona Road) in Hempfield Township

    Shoulder cutting:

    • Various routes in North Huntingdon Township

    Crews will pick litter, replace downed signs, update existing signs, and address work orders on various state routes throughout the county.

    PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

    Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, available free of charge 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
