Route 217 Millwood Street Reopens to Traffic Six Days Ahead of Schedule in Westmoreland County

Uniontown, PA—Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing the reopening of Route 217 (Millwood Street) over McGee Run in Derry Township, Westmoreland County.

Crews from Gulisek Construction LLC closed Route 217 (Millwood Street) between Ankney Road and Hillside Road in early June to conduct bridge rehabilitation work including overlaying the existing deck surface with a latex-modified concrete, repairing the substructure, installing a foundation drain, and milling and asphalt overlaying the approaches. The work requiring the closure has been completed and the roadway has reopened to traffic six days ahead of schedule.

This job is part of a $3.13 million infrastructure investment in a larger hydro/latex bridge deck preservation project to extend the life of six structures in:

Westmoreland County (4):

  • Route 119 over Southwest PA Railroad and Thermo Village Road in Hempfield Township (2)
  • Route 217 (Millwood Street) over McGee Run in Derry Township
  • Route 993 (Irwin Trafford Road) over Brush Creek in North Huntingdon Township

Washington County (2):

  • Route 2020 (Main Street) over Tenmile Creek in West Bethlehem Township and Marianna Borough
  • Route 4051 (Jessop Place) over Chartiers Creek in Canton Township

Allow extra travel time and navigate work zones with caution. Safety is a shared responsibility.
