PennDOT’s Fayette County Maintenance Update

Week of June 23, 2025

Uniontown, PA – Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Fayette County Maintenance Manager Jason L. Spangler has announced the following tentative work plan for the week of June 23. All maintenance activities depend on weather and operations.

Motorists can anticipate detours, flaggers, moving operations, and/or single-lane restrictions. Please drive cautiously through all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring headlights. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

Bridge work:

  • Route 2003 (Wharton Furnace Road) in Wharton Township
    • Between Greenhouse Road and Fayette Springs Road
    • Posted Detour:
      • Route 40 (National Pike)
      • Route 381 (Elliottsville Road)

Brushing:

  • Various routes in Fayette County

Inlet cleaning:

  • Route 40 (National Pike) in Wharton Township
  • Various routes in Fayette County

Sealcoat operations:

  • Route 281 (Mae West Road) in Henry Clay Township

Shoulder cutting / Sloping:

  • Route 4010 (Searights Herbert Road) in Menallen Township
  • Route 4016 (Royal Road) in Menallen Township
  • Route 4028 (Grindstone Road) in Redstone Township

Sign upgrading:

  • Various routes countywide

Crews will pick litter, replace downed and update signs, and address work orders on various state routes countywide. 

PennDOT has a toll-free number—1-800-FIX-ROAD (1-800-349-7623)—for residents to report road maintenance concerns and the locations of dead deer on state highways.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, available free of charge 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices by calling 5-1-1 or following regional X alerts.
