Route 2073 Allegheny River Boulevard Seal Coating Tuesday in Allegheny County

Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing seal coating operations on Allegheny River Boulevard (Route 2073) in Oakmont and Verona boroughs, Allegheny County will occur Tuesday, May 20 weather permitting.

Single-lane alternating traffic will occur on Allegheny River Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday between Center Avenue in Verona Borough and College Avenue in Oakmont Borough. PennDOT crews will conduct seal coating operations.

Each year, PennDOT’s maintenance crews perform numerous operations designed to maintain the integrity of the road surface and preserve its life. Seal coating, or more commonly referred to as “tar and chips”, is essential in preserving the life of a road surface because it prevents moisture from entering the pavement through surface cracks and oxidized asphalt surfaces.
