Northbound I-279 Parkway North Lane Restrictions Begin Monday in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is announcing a lane restriction on northbound I-279 (Parkway North) in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will begin Monday, August 18 weather permitting.

Traffic will be reduced to a single-lane of traffic, as needed, on northbound I-279 to allow repair work on the I-579 HOV substructures. The lane restriction on I-279 will occur between the North 28 Chestnut Street/East Ohio Street/Etna (Exit 1D) off-ramp and the East Ohio Street overpass according to the following schedule:

  • 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM Monday through Friday, August 18-22
  • 9:00 PM Friday, August 22 continuously through 5:00 AM Monday, August 25
  • 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM Monday through Friday, August 25-29

No work will occur over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Crews from Swank Construction will conduct the repair work.

Please use caution if traveling through the corridor. Work zone safety is everyone’s responsibility.
