    Funding Opportunities

    This page lists RHTP funding opportunities, including links to postings and instructions for accessing the funding. Please read through the current and upcoming funding opportunities carefully to ensure you are applying for the funding that best aligns with your project. 

    Upcoming Opportunities

    Rapid Response Stabilization — Round 2

    • Application Dates: August 17, 2026, at 8:00 AM to August 24, 2026, at 11:59 AM, or until or until the authorized funding cap has been met, whichever is sooner
    • Total Available Funding: $35 million; $1 million per eligible location
    • Qualified Entities: Hospitals, health care providers, or rural health facilities within specific regions  

    To receive an RHTP payment, qualified entities must complete and submit the eligibility certification form for each location included in the request. If you are unable to complete the webform, a PDF form is available. The payment must stabilize or enhance rural health care access, promote rural well-being and fall under one of the following six initiatives in the Department’s federally approved RHTP application: 

    • Aging and Access
    • Behavioral Health
    • Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Transportation
    • Maternal Health
    • Technology and Infrastructure
    • Workforce

    Qualified hospitals, health care providers and rural health facilities are eligible for a program payment for supplies and equipment only.

    Please note this RHTP payment is an initial opportunity. If you do not qualify for this RHTP payment and want to use funding for other purposes, a future opportunity may be a better fit.

    Current Opportunities

    EHR & HIO — Modernizing Healthcare Technology and Enabling Interoperatbility

    • Application Dates: July 27, 2026, at 8:00 AM to August 14, 2026, at 11:59 AM, or until or until the authorized funding cap has been met, whichever is sooner
    • Total Available Funding: $25 million
    • Qualified Entities: 
      • Hospitals 
      • Long-term care nursing facilities 
      • Home health agencies 
      • Behavioral health providers 
      • Community homes for individuals with disabilities or autism 

    To receive an RHTP payment, qualified entities must complete and submit the eligibility certification webform and email all required documentation. If you are unable to complete the webform, a PDF form is available. The payment must be used to implement a Certified Electronic Health Record Technology (CEHRT) system to become a participant in one of the Commonwealth’s five certified Health Information Organizations (HIOs) and fully onboard to the statewide health information exchange, the Pennsylvania Patient and Provider Network (P3N)

    FQHC & FQHC Look-Alikes — Modernizing Healthcare Technology and Enabling Interoperatbility

    • Application Dates: July 27, 2026, at 8 a.m to August 7, 2026, at 11:59 a.m., or until or until the authorized funding cap has been met, whichever is sooner
    • Total Available Funding: $1.8 million; $300,000 per program payment for a total of 6 awards
    • Qualified Entities: FQHCs and FQHC Look-Alikes  

    To receive an RHTP payment, qualified entities must complete and submit the eligibility certification form. If you are unable to complete the webform, a PDF form is available. The payment must be used to implement a Certified Electronic Health Record Technology (CEHRT) system to become a participant in one of the Commonwealth’s five certified Health Information Organizations (HIOs) and fully onboard to the statewide health information exchange, the Pennsylvania Patient and Provider Network (P3N).

    • Application Dates: May 1, 2026 to June 1, 2026, or until or until the authorized funding cap has been met, whichever is sooner
    • Total Available Funding: $25 million
    • Payment amount: $10,000-$1,000,000
    • Qualified Entities: Hospitals, health care providers, or rural health facilities within specific regions  

    To receive an RHTP payment qualified entities must complete and submit the eligibility certification. The payment must stabilize or enhance rural health care access, promote rural well-being and fall under one of the following six initiatives in the Department’s federally approved RHTP application: 

    • Aging and Access
    • Behavioral Health
    • Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Transportation
    • Maternal Health
    • Technology and Infrastructure
    • Workforce

    Qualified hospitals, health care providers and rural health facilities are eligible for a program payment for supplies, equipment, renovations or structural improvements.
