Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) invites the public to an online plan display regarding the Interstate 83 over Route 2002 Springwood Road bridge rehabilitation project in York Township, York County. The purpose of the project is the rehabilitation of the I-83 existing bridge substructure and piers over Springwood Road.
The proposed project involves the rehabilitation of the existing I-83 bridge substructure with regards to the abutments and piers. The repairs for the abutment will consist of minor concrete repairs for areas of delamination and spalls and injection of epoxy compound into cracks that are not being repaired as part of the concrete repairs. The pier caps and columns will have deteriorated concrete removed and be encapsulated with 6 inches of concrete. Epoxy resin protective coating will be applied to the beam seats and stems of the abutments, the concrete diaphragms at the piers, the beam seats and vertical faces of the pier caps, and to the entire area of columns and the end of the beams.
Springwood Road will be closed to traffic between Victoria Road and Pauline Drive except to local traffic and a detour will be in place during construction. Access to all driveways within the project limits will be maintained during construction.
The project is currently in design and construction work is expected to take place in the 2026 construction season. A plans display will be held online only. A digital version of the information will be available to view online from December 6, 2024, to January 6, 2025.
