Changing PA's Littering Habit

Pick Up Every Piece

Join thousands of Pennsylvanians this spring and summer to help keep our communities clean, show our state pride, and make an immediate impact by picking up litter prior to America 250 events across Pennsylvania.

Every piece counts

As Pennsylvania prepares to host major America 250 celebrations and national events—from Earth Day and the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh to the PGA Championship, FIFA festivities, the MLB All-Star Game, and July 4th celebrations in Philadelphia—now is the perfect moment to show what our communities are made of.

Litter is one of the issues Pennsylvanians care about most. Many of us agree it harms our environment, waterways, home values, local businesses, and the beauty of the places we love.

And the solution is simple and immediate: when each of us picks up even a handful of litter, our neighborhoods, parks, trails, and roadways look better instantly. This campaign encourages residents to join a Pick Up PA event or organize one of their own through Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful—turning individual effort into a statewide movement that keeps Pennsylvania beautiful for visitors, neighbors, and future generations.

Why it matters

We all know it. Litter hurts our environment, neighborhoods, businesses, and the places we love.

Most Pennsylvanians see it as a real problem. And to clean it up, the solution is simple. Did you know? According to Keep America Beautiful, if every resident picked up just 152 pieces of litter, visible litter would be nearly gone.

Cleanups not only make an immediate difference, they also boost community pride. Join a Pick Up PA event near you and keep Pennsylvania beautiful all year long.
