Williamsport, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will host a public hearing on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, to accept testimony regarding 22 Transfer LLC’s municipal waste application for a permit to construct a proposed municipal waste transfer station in Cooper Township, Montour County.
DEP’s Waste Management Program is currently reviewing the permit application for the proposed site, located on a 47-acre parcel approximately three miles southwest of Bloomsburg located on the west side of Grovania Drive. The site is proposed to be used for a municipal waste transfer station, a recycling center, and maintenance and operation of a waste hauling operation. If granted, the transfer station would provide waste processing of approximately 500 tons per day.
The public hearing will take place on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Montour County Administration Center, 435 East Front Street, Danville, PA 17821.
Individuals wishing to testify at the hearing are asked to register in advance by 4:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026, by contacting Megan Lehman at meglehman@pa.gov or 570-327-3659. Onsite registration to speak will also be accepted if time allows. The hearing is open to the public, and registration is not required for those simply wishing to attend.
Oral testimony at the hearing is limited to three minutes per person and will be transcribed by a stenographer. Written testimony of any length will also be accepted until the pu blic comment period closes on June 24, 2026. DEP will consider all comments equally, whether submitted orally at the hearing or in writing during the public comment period. DEP will prepare a comment and response document addressing all comments received.
