Houtzdale, PA – The State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Houtzdale is conducting a full-scale training exercise at the facility today. Please be advised that there will be emergency vehicles entering the area of SCI Houtzdale for the purpose of the drill. This is only a drill and there is not an emergency at SCI Houtzdale.
"It is imperative to conduct these exercises and involve staff in role-playing their responsibilities to prepare for actual emergencies," said Superintendent Scott Klinefelter. "This type of drill also allows the institution to interact with county emergency management officials, local emergency officials and the PA State Police whose assistance we will rely upon in the event of a real emergency situation."
