From Crisis to Collaboration: Building Resilient Justice Systems

The 2025 CJAB Conference "From Crisis to Collaboration: Building Resilient Justice Systems" brought together criminal justice, behavioral health, and treatment partners for an engaging and thought-provoking one and a half-day event. An impressive line-up of national and local experts discussed new and reemerging issues impacting our criminal justice and behavioral health systems, providing innovative strategies and collaborative solutions to meet the challenges ahead.

  • Retired Col. Brenda Dietzman will introduce "The LEAF Concept", an innovative approach encouraging employees to think long-term, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and personal fulfillment.
  • In "Thriving After Resiliency", Jeff Wallace will explore the critical journey of moving beyond resilience to true thriving; not just for the youth you serve but for yourself.
  • We will also be joined by retired Sgt. Mark DiBona who, in "More Than A Feeling", will speak about how his childhood trauma, his mental health issues and how his suicide attempt affected his career and marriage.
  • In addition to these engaging plenary sessions, we will feature break-out sessions covering topics such as behavioral health screening and risk assessment, collaboration, crisis response, intellectual disabilities and autism, mental health and law enforcement, and building your CJAB's resiliency.

The Pathways for Victim Services Conference provides an opportunity for victim service providers and allied professionals to join us for national keynote speakers, informative workshops, networking opporunities, and the presentation of the Governor's Victim Service Pathfinder Awards.

Training

In 2019, the County Adult Probation and Parole Advisory Committee (CAPPAC) was created within the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD). The CAPPAC is charged with, among other things, developing and supporting basic and continuing education training for county adult probation and parole officers.

PCCD is seeking qualified individuals to voluntarily participate as instructors for the Basic Training Academy (BTA) for County Adult Probation and Parole Officers. The BTA consists of two weeks of training – the first week is offered "live" virtually, and the second week is offered in-person in the State College area. The BTA will be offered at different times throughout the year.

Please be prepared to upload relevant materials (i.e. CV, resume, references, examples of presentations, etc.).
