PennDOT/BPC Announce Closures on Route 143 Closure for I-78 Lenhartsville Bridge Replacement Project

Motorists are advised that the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC) announce road closures of Route 143 in support of the I-78 Lenhartsville Bridge Replacement Project.

 

The contractor will be setting beams for the new eastbound and westbound bridge spans over Route 143 on two separate occasions. The Route 143 closures will occur between 9 PM and 6 AM each night and occur on or around June 16th for the eastbound bridge, and on or around June 17th for the westbound bridge, pending weather.

 

To detour, motorists traveling on Route 143 northbound are advised to use I-78 eastbound to Exit 40 (Kutztown/Krumsville) to I-78 Westbound to Exit 35 (Lenhartsville) and traveling on Route 143 southbound are advised to use I-78 westbound to Exit 30 (Hamburg) to I-78 eastbound to Exit 35 (Lenhartsville).

 

Also, there will be rolling slowdowns on Interstate 78 east and west near Exit 35 (Lenhartsville) from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM each night the beams are set.

 

As the project continues, ongoing coordination and updates with local Emergency Management Services (EMS) will occur.

 

This project is part of the ongoing PennDOT Major Bridges P3 ProgramBridging Pennsylvania Developers – I (BPD-I) is led jointly by Shikun & Binui Ltd and Macquarie Capital as Lead Project Developers and Equity Members. The Bridging Pennsylvania Constructors (BPC) joint venture (JV) consortium includes the design & construction expertise of S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA) and FCC Construction. S&B USA Construction is the construction arm of Shikun & Binui Ltd and is also the parent company of Fay, S&B USA Construction (Pittsburgh, PA), one of the four BPC Major Bridge subcontractors. Other Major Bridge subcontractors include the H&K Group (Skippack, PA), Kokosing Construction Company (Pittsburgh, PA), Wagman Heavy Civil (York, PA), and Lead Designer, Michael Baker International (Pittsburgh, PA).
