PennDOT’s Westmoreland County Maintenance Update

​Uniontown, PA – Westmoreland County Maintenance Manager, Dave Forkey, announced the following tentative work plan for the week of June 5, 2023. All maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting and operational basis.

During county maintenance work activities motorists should expect to encounter flaggers, single-lane restrictions, moving operations, and detours. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights.

Bridge sweeping and flushing is scheduled for:

  • Interstate 70 between New Stanton Borough and North Belle Vernon Borough

  • Route 22 between the Municipality of Murrysville and the Indiana County line

Bridge repair work is scheduled for:

  • Route 1071 (Hypocrite Creek Road) in Fairfield Township

Pipe repair/replacement is scheduled for:

  • Route 2029 (Hellein School Road) in Donegal Township

  • Route 2016 (Youngstown Ridge Avenue) in Unity Township

Pipe installation/drainage work is scheduled for:

  • Route 119 in Crabtree and Hempfield Township

  • Route 1009 (Owl Hollow Road) in Ligonier Township

  • Route 981 in Derry Township

Shoulder cutting is scheduled for:

  • Route 119 in Crabtree and Hempfield Township

  • Route 711 in Donegal Township and Cook Township

Shoulder stabilization is scheduled for:

  • Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) in Ligonier Township

Slide repairs are scheduled for:

  • Route 1067 (Laughner Road) in Fairfield Township

Paving is scheduled for:

  • Route 30 in Hempfield Township

  • Route 31 (Ruffsdale/Mt. Pleasant Road) in East Huntingdon Township

Base repair/Patching is scheduled for:

  • Route 3008 (Fellsburg Road) in Rostraver Township

Patching is scheduled for:

  • Route 2023 (Bell Memorial Road/Hill Church Road) in Unity Township

Crack sealing is scheduled for:

  • Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) in Ligonier Township

  • Route 271 (Menoher Highway) in Fairfield Township

Litter crews will be picking litter on various routes throughout the county as weather and other activities permit.

Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and work orders will be addressed on various state routes throughout the County.

PennDOT has a toll-free number for residents to call to report any road maintenance concern.  This number can also be utilized to report locations of dead deer on state highways.  The number is 1-800-FIX ROAD (1-800-349-7623). 

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
