Indiana, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 10 is announcing a long-term traffic control installation along Officer Edward Brooks Drive as part of the Three Degree Road Intersection Project in Middlesex and Adams Townships, Butler County beginning July 10, 2023.
Contractor, Independence Excavating Inc. will be implementing a detour at Officer Edwards Brooks Drive July 10 through August 8. Traffic control signs will be deployed during the detour to guide motorists.
To detour, motorists heading west on State Route 228 should continue past Officer Edwards Brooks Drive to the intersection of Three Degree Road/State Route 228. Once reaching the intersection, motorists should make a right turn to head north on Three Degree Road before making another right onto Davidson Road to connect to Officer Edwards Brooks Drive. Motorists heading east on State Route 228 should make a left at the intersection of State Route 228/Three Degree Road and then turn right to go north on Davidson Road to connect to Officer Edwards Brooks Drive.
During this time under detour, Independence Excavating will be constructing drainage and a dry holding basin to help mitigate issues caused by heavy rainfalls. As they build their drainage, Independence will continue to fill in the area until the new roadway configuration is ready to be paved.
Once ready for pavement, trucks will be delivering asphalt into the detoured area and motorists should be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting State Route 228.
The safety improvement project includes through lanes, turn lanes, side road improvements, the addition of service roads for access control, drainage and guide rail upgrades, signal replacement, signage and pavement markings, sidewalks, ADA ramps, and a roundabout.
Contractor, Independence Excavating, Inc. of Independence, OH will be completing this $55.8 million with a projected completion date in November 2026.
