    Professional Development Training Programs for Evidence-Based Reading Instruction List

    This document presents professional development training programs for evidence-based reading instruction for kindergarten through grade 3 as outlined in Article XV-N of the School Code.

    Professional Development Training Programs

    The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and the PDE Reading Leadership Council (Council) identified the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) as a clearinghouse for professional development training programs. This organization is nationally recognized and provides high-quality, evidence-based resources to support schools in making informed decisions about literacy programming and has a review process that is in alignment with the requirements of Article XV-N for professional development raining programs.

    In this context, a clearinghouse refers to a repository of programs or materials that have been evaluated using a transparent, research-based process. Such repositories may be housed within federally funded centers, private organizations, nonprofits, or state education agencies.

    Intended Use for School Entities

    The Professional Development Training Programs for Evidence-Based Reading Instruction list is designed to support school entities in making informed decisions about selecting and using professional development training programs. 

    This list is not exhaustive and will be reviewed to incorporate newly evaluated materials from the clearinghouse. Visit PDE’s Annual Review Cycle Schedule for more information. 

    There is no rating system for the Pennsylvania specific courses.
