What is aggregate data?

Summary statistics (like average test scores by school, district, or student demographic categories) or grouping of statistics (ethnicity, gender, economically disadvantaged status, full time vs part time teachers ) that lose individual detail. Individual-level data comes from the source system and is used to produce the aggregate data in order to reduce the possibility of identifying the individual records.

What is Individual-level data?

Individual-level data refers to information collected about each specific student or staff member that may include demographics (gender, birthdate, race/ethnicity, etc.), enrollment information, academic performance (test scores, grades) behavior (disciplinary records), attendance, or any other personal details.

What does “Statewide” research mean?

Statewide research is research with a geographic scope that encompasses all of Pennsylvania and study findings intended to benefit the entire state, and not just a few LEAs or schools. PDE only supports research that is Statewide.
