Nurse Aide Resident Abuse Prevention Training Act

Requirements of the Act

All candidates must submit an original or copy of an original PA CHRI obtained through the Pennsylvania State Police prior to enrolling in a PA NATCEP. If a candidate has not been a resident of Pennsylvania for the last two (2) consecutive years, a PA CHRI and an FBI criminal history report are required prior to enrollment. The PA CHRI and FBI report must be dated within a year of the student’s start date in class.

Applicants for enrollment in a state-approved nurse aide training program shall not be admitted into the program if the applicant’s criminal history record indicates a conviction of any of the following offenses:

1. An offense designated as a felony under the act of April 14, 1972 (P.L. 233, No. 64), known as “The Controlled Substance, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act.” (See 35 P.S. § 780-101 et seq.).

2. An offense under one or more of the following provisions of Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes listed in the table below.

3. A federal or out-of-state offense similar in nature to those crimes listed under paragraphs (1) and (2).
