A $2.9 million traffic signal improvement project that will increase efficiency along more than three miles of Route 20 in Erie County is scheduled to start soon.
The project will include updates to traffic signal equipment at 10 intersections from the intersection of Route 20 and Zuck Road (Route 4015) in Millcreek Township to the intersection of Route 20 and Chestnut Street in the City of Erie. The intersections included in the project are Crescent Drive, Geist Road and Hudson Road, Greengarden Boulevard, Bauer Avenue, Brown Avenue, Raspberry Street, Cascade Street, Liberty Street, Cherry Street, and Chestnut Street.
Additionally, ADA-compliant updates will be made Zuck Road and Evanston Avenue.
Work will also include updates to sidewalks, drainage and ADA-compliant curb ramps, as well as new signs.
Construction is expected to begin April 15, 2024, weather permitting, and is expected to be completed by November 2024.
One lane of the roadway will remain open throughout the project and traffic will be controlled using daytime lane restrictions and flaggers. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and lane restrictions and anticipate travel delays during active work hours.
The contractor is M & B Services of Clarion, PA. The contract cost is $2,938,771.42, which is to be paid for with a combination of state and federal funds.
