King of Prussia, PA — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction is planned next week and the following week on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway), including the southbound lanes of the Twin Bridges over the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, October 9, through Friday, October 20, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on northbound and southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) at Fox Street for painting the Fox Street overpass;
- Monday, October 9, through Friday, October 20, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on the southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) Twin Bridges for application of an epoxy overlay to preserve the concrete deck; and
- Monday, October 16, through Friday, October 20, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place on the southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) Twin Bridges for application of an epoxy overlay to preserve the concrete deck.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The work is part of the substantially completed $95.5 million project to rehabilitate the Wayne Avenue Viaduct over the Nicetown neighborhood.
