Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) updated drivers on a joint sealing project impacting northbound and southbound traffic along Interstate 99 in Huston and Worth townships in Centre County. This project will extend the life of more than seven miles of concrete roadway between Port Matilda and Grays Woods.
Crews will work Saturday, October 7, and Sunday, October 8. Drivers are urged to exercise caution in this and all work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up.
The right (travel) lane of I-99 northbound is currently closed, but the contractor anticipates completing work in this lane by the close of business on Thursday, October 5. It will then close the left (passing) lane to allow crews to continue work on the northbound lanes on Friday, October 6. The travel lane on I-99 southbound is also closed.
Crews will work Monday, October 9, through the close of business on Thursday, October 12. At the close of business on Thursday, the contractor will pull all traffic control devices and reopen both lanes in each direction to mitigate traffic impacts for ticketholder heading for Penn State's home football matchup with UMass.
Swank Construction Company of New Kensington, PA, is the contractor for this $969,000 job. PennDOT anticipates project completion in late November. All work is weather dependent.
