Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that work on a highway resurfacing project improving five routes in Juniata and Mifflin counties will start on Monday, June 3. This project will improve the ride quality and extend the service life of more than 15 miles of roadway throughout the two counties.
Crews will begin on Route 75 between Gilland Road just south of the Village of East Waterford and the Franklin-Juniata County line on Monday, June 3. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours while this work is ongoing. PennDOT urges drivers to build extra travel time into their schedules as it expects short delays, to exercise caution in all work zones, to be alert for sudden stops, and to avoid following construction vehicles into the closed lane as they deliver material.
Other roads that will see work as part of this project include:
- Route 74 in Turbett Township, Juniata County.
- Route 333 near Lions Club Park Road in Port Royal Borough, Juniata County.
- Route 3018 (Smokey Hollow Road) near the Burnt Church-Frys Road intersection in Tuscarora Township, Juniata County.
- Route 2002 (Belltown Road) between Alfarata Road in Decatur Township and the Mifflin-Snyder County line.
PennDOT will implement a detour for the work on Route 74 at a future date and will update drivers before implementing it.
Overall work on the project consists of slide repairs, milling, paving, guide rail installation, and miscellaneous construction. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College, PA, is the contractor on this $3.4 million project. PennDOT anticipates project completion in mid-September. All work is weather dependent.
