Highway Resurfacing in Centre, Clinton Counties Starts April 11

Clearfield, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that a highway resurfacing project in Centre and Clinton counties will start on April 11. This project will improve the ride quality and extend the life of several sections of roadway.

On Thursday, April 11, the contractor will reduce traffic on Route 45 (Shingletown Road) from Route 26 to South Atherton Street in Ferguson Township to complete milling and paving operations. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control. Drivers should anticipate short travel delays during daylight hours while work takes place. PennDOT urges drivers to exercise caution, to be alert for construction vehicles making sudden stops, and not to follow construction vehicles into the closed lane as they deliver material.

Other Centre County roads that will see work as part of this project include:

  • Route 144 (Snow Shoe Mountain Road) in Snow Shoe Township.
  • Route 445 (Pike Road) in Walker Township
  • Route 9109 (approaching South Atherton Street from Shingletown Road)

One Clinton County road that will see improvement during this project is Route 477 (Long Run Road) in Lamar Township.

PennDOT will issue an update before the contractor begins work on each road.

Overall work on this project includes highway resurfacing, drainage improvements, guide rail replacement, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $5 million project. PennDOT anticipates completion in November. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
