    Route 50 Washington Avenue Improvements Continue this Weekend in Carnegie

    Pittsburgh, PA – PennDOT District 11 is announcing improvement work on Route 50 (Washington Avenue) in Carnegie Borough, Allegheny County will occur this weekend Saturday morning, November 4 through Monday morning, November 6 weather permitting.

    Concrete patching, sawcutting, joint sealing, and other miscellaneous construction activities requiring single-lane alternating traffic on Route 50 between East Main Street and Lincoln Avenue from 7 a.m. Saturday morning through 6 a.m. Monday morning. Noise restrictions will be in place from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday nights. Overnight work will be limited to less disruptive operations.

    Additionally, concrete patching work will occur on Academy Street requiring a roadway closure and the detouring of traffic from 7 a.m. Saturday morning continuously through 6 a.m. Monday morning.

    • From Academy Street, take Washington Avenue (Route 50) south

    • Turn left onto Hope Hollow Road

    • Turn left onto Greentree Road (Route 3052)

    • Turn left onto Greentree Road (Route 121)

    • Turn right onto the West 376 ramp toward the Airport

    • Follow westbound I-376 to the Carnegie interchange

    • Take the ramp to Route 50 Carnegie/Heidelberg (Exit 65)

    • Bear left toward Route 50 Heidelberg

    • Turn left onto Chestnut Street

    • Follow Chestnut Street back to Academy Street

    • End detour

    Work on this $1.2 million project will occur on Route 50 between Boden Avenue and East Main Street.

    Please use caution while traveling through the work zone. Flaggers will assist motorists through the construction area.

    Gulisek Construction is the prime contractor.

    To help keep motorists informed as work progresses, PennDOT has created an email distribution list for Route 50 including traffic advisories and construction updates. Enroll by sending email addresses to stcowan@pa.gov. Please write “Subscribe – Route 50” in the subject line.

    Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles, including color-coded winter conditions on 2,900 miles, by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras.
