Check Your Eligibility for the new Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit

As a Pennsylvanian who receives benefits from health and human services programs, you may also be eligible for Pennsylvania’s Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit. This new, state-level refundable tax credit is for eligible working Pennsylvanians who file their taxes this tax season. Modeled after the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), the WPTC can deliver a maximum of $805 to qualifying workers. Thanks to the efforts of Governor Josh Shapiro, those who receive the federal EITC will automatically receive the Working Pennsylvanians Tax Credit if they file both their federal and state tax returns online at the same time.

  • The easiest way to claim the credit is to file your federal and state tax returns online at the same time.
  • The Department of Revenue must receive a copy of your federal Form 1040 to calculate your credit automatically.
  • This is a refundable tax credit, meaning you can receive it even if you don’t owe Pennsylvania income tax.
