Harrisburg, PA - The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission (PHMC) recognized 21 volunteers for their contributions of time, talent and expertise in 2015 at the annual Volunteer of the Year Ceremony, held Saturday, April 9 at The State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg.
In addition, three honorees, Patty Clendennen, Bob Clendennen and Courtney Clendennen from Old Economy Village in Ambridge received Outstanding Service Awards for long-term volunteer participation and exceptional dedication.
Since its beginning a century ago, the commission has depended on citizen volunteers to work in partnership with our dedicated paid staff to carry out the preservation and interpretation programs of the agency. Each spring for nearly 40 years, volunteers and commission leadership gather to say “thank you” and honor exceptional volunteer service.
Each of the historic sites and museums on the Pennsylvania Trails of History are invited to designate a Volunteer of the Year based on service in the preceding calendar year.
