Harrisburg – Children and their families are invited come in costume to The State Museum of Pennsylvania’s “Night of the Great Pumpkin,” 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17. The free celebration, offers face painting, crafts, snacks and story time for children.
This special event coincides with “3rd in the Burg,” Harrisburg’s monthly arts and entertainment celebration.
"The ‘Night of the Great Pumpkin’ is a traditional, family-oriented evening of games, crafts and snacks where the only scary thing is how much fun you will have," said State Museum Director David Dunn.
Young visitors will enjoy seasonal craft workshops where they will create ghost windsocks and skeletons to take home. The Harrisburg Young Professionals will also hold a pumpkin carving demonstration.
Interactive children’s performer “Louie” will share ghostly and ghoulish songs and stories in the auditorium at 6:30 and 7:30.
The State Museum of Pennsylvania, adjacent to the State Capitol in Harrisburg, is one of 25 historic sites and museums administered by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission as part of the Pennsylvania Trails of History®.
