Harrisburg, PA - The State Museum of Pennsylvania presents the 11th anniversary edition of its popular “Noon Year’s” celebration. Join museum staff, volunteers and other junior revelers and their families from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Friday, December, 30 for an exciting opportunity to “ring in” the New Year.
Museum visitors will have an opportunity to make crafts, sip some hot chocolate, learn about music in nature and dance their way into the New Year. The highlight of this family-friendly event is the museum’s famous firefly and balloon drop at 12:00 noon in Memorial Hall.
Award winning children’s performer Steven Courtney will host two special music performances. Mr. Courtney has been honored for his work with children and in music. “I strive to write songs that kids and parents can be entertained by, while they are together, enjoying each other’s company,” says the Pennsylvania-based songwriter.
Curiosity Connection will be open during the event for our visitors under age 5 for activities and play. Space is limited, but a free, timed ticket is required for 45 minutes of play. Curiosity Connection will be closing at 2:15 PM.
The event is included with general admission to the museum. Guests may call (717) 772-6997 through December 23 to pre-purchase General Admission & Planetarium tickets and to reserve Curiosity Connection Playtime. No reservation is required and walk-ups are welcome, however Planetarium tickets and Curiosity Connection Playtime tickets are extremely limited. To guarantee your time, please consider booking early.
Visitors will have the opportunity to view the Season of Light planetarium show available at special times throughout the day. Although it is the coldest and darkest of seasons, this time of year holds some of the warmest and brightest celebrations. Trace the history and development of many of the world’s most endearing holiday customs. Planetarium shows are an additional $3 per person. Space is limited and tickets are required for the planetarium show.
