Any person operating under or with a funeral director for the purpose of learning the profession, to the end that they may become a licensed funeral director. The term shall also include a student apprentice.
Qualifications:
To become a resident intern, an applicant shall present satisfactory evidence of having completed college requirements; and coordinated course of study as a student trainee. In addition, to be approved as a resident intern, an applicant shall obtain a certificate of mortuary education from the school of mortuary science and preprofessional certificate issued by the Department of Education.
Also, because a resident intern shall complete the resident intern training in a funeral establishment in this Commonwealth under the supervision of a qualified preceptor, a copy of the preceptorial agreement which has been executed by the applicant’s proposed preceptor must be provided.
Examination:
No examination requirement for licensure.
Experience:
No experience requirement for licensure.
Continuing Education:
3 Hours (for initial licensure)
Applicants must complete 3 hours of Board-approved continuing education in child abuse recognition and reporting for initial licensure.
Initial Licensing Fee:
$25 - Initial registration for resident intern.
Licensure Renewal Fee:
Cannot renew intern license.
Licensure by Act 41:
Act 41 requires licensing boards and commissions to issue a license, certificate, registration or permit to an applicant who holds a current license, certificate, registration or permit from another state, territory or country whose licensing requirements are substantially equivalent to or exceed the requirements in this Commonwealth and who meet other criteria set forth under Act 41.
